I have a Google Nexus One.  The phone appears, in openSUSE, as a flash 
drive, not CD-ROM.  I can read and write with it, as I would any other 
USB drive.  Also, this phone provides an IP connection.  I don't recall 
anything about a GSM modem.  Is that service still supported by the 
carriers?
