It could be POP-before-SMTP or it could be authenticated SMTP.
Sort of important to know which.

But since the settings they gave out for Outlook said nothing about a password
(or did they?) I think that points to POP-before-SMTP.  So bob's
problem might be
simply that he didn't POP within a few mintues of testing this.
