Remember that DVD-R is the "real" DVD format; +R's are as I understand
it a little further from the original DVD-ROM spec. See the trade page
at http://www.dvdforum.org/tech-dvdbook.htm
But the flipside is that +RW is apparently a better re-writeable format:
