On the other hand python 2.3.5 is what is the default and supported
version by everything on your system.  Also the python syntax does not
change that often so learning 2.3 should be just fine and you won't have
to make a mess trying to get extensions installed and working.

2.3 is a stable version, 2.4 is for all I know still developing and
might change at times.  I also doubt perl6's syntax is finalized yet
unless they are further along that I think.  No system I have yet seen
runs perl6 as their perl default so learning it is certainly not on my
priority list.
