Windows isn't for "non-computer types" either. However, there are a
couple of versions of it which are popular enough that Sympatico's help
desk has scripts to help people through configuration.

Other posts advise getting an ethernet connected modem and a router
appliance. This is good advice and should definately be followed,
especially for people who are "non-computer types". ASUS makes a nice
one that does all the usual NAT/WAP stuff and throws in a USB print
server as well.
