Do you have a CD-RW known to work with that drive before?
Remember there are 3 types of CD-RW media.
1-4X, 4-10X high speed, and 10X+ ultra high speed.
Most drives can only use 1 or 2 types, and will not work at all with
other types. That is not true of CD-R media, where pretty much any
drive can write to any media at whatever is the highest speed in common
between the media and the drive.
What does this tell you:
cdrecord -atip -dev (your device like hdc or sg0 or something)
