Bell Sympatico Speed Stream modem: won't talk to Ethernet card

So let's try first set up Linux eth1 as 192.168.2.2
and eth0 as 10.0.0.1 and the local network gateway
10.0.0.1 and the rest computer in the house as
10.0.0.2... DNS 204.101.251.1/2.
Now I am using Windows to activate the modem and
hopefully trick Sympatico to route the Internet into
my 10.0.0. network.

Any better idea?
