Yes, you were right. I went into /sbin/ntsysv application and put a check
beside wu-ftp (so it will startup when linux starts), rebooted the boxes
and voila!

[chris at p166 chris]$ ftp 192.168.0.1
Connected to 192.168.0.1.
220 hons800 FTP server (Version wu-2.6.2-5) ready.
504 AUTH GSSAPI not supported.
504 AUTH KERBEROS_V4 not supported.
KERBEROS_V4 rejected as an authentication type
