I'm now using the chrome dotEPUB add-on to turn web pages into epubs to 
read on my kobo on the bus. This preserves the links and the 
searchability, but gives me an acceptable screen quality.  My typesetter 
friends excoriate even my best dot-matrix screens (;-))
