This afternoon I came across some web page pdfs that were *extremely* slow
to download and display, some to the point of being unusable. I then
discovered that the 'wget' command downloads those files in a matter of
seconds. Then I used acroread to display them.

This is with Firefox 24.0 under Linux Mint 16.

Trying it again this evening, I can't reproduce the effect, but I'm
curious: anyone know why this might happen?
