I think you mean STB (Set Top Box), not (just) PVR (Personal Video
Recorder).

"comp" is unfortunately ambiguous.  It could mean "composite"
(typically for analogue SD) or "component" (typically for analogue
HD).

My Rogers HD STBs have both composite and component out.  The SD
boxes have composite but not component out.

There is pressure to eliminate component support since it is claimed
to facilitate piracy.  It is true that it allows avoidance of DRM
(that's why we're talking about it), but I don't consider that piracy.
