At least utf8 is compatible with ascii so the mailing list software
won't have issues with it.

the quotes rather nicely too.
I certainly couldn't possibly be bothered to try and type fancy quotes,
although I do have my keyboard layout setup to allow a lot of useful
characters to be typed easily.
