I'm not sure I'd want to put my infrastructure into hands that aren't
historically terribly far away from pretty visible despotism.  You
might be jumping from one problem into one that you weren't expecting
to be a bigger one.

But if you're out to solve your "SOPA problem" by detaching from US
influence, it would be rather dumb to detach one "US tentacle" whilst
leaving a whole bunch of others attached to your services.

And there's a different "public policy" that can happen, then.
Supposing all the services worried about SOPA jump over to .ch and
.ru, that might give US legislators a premise to block them.  Not a
*certain* policy change, but it should be appreciated that they are
not incapable of noticing and reacting to such changes.
