It seems to be a popular "feature" on samsung screens.

I checked what appeared to be a manual and it makes no mention of it.
It does mention that only inputs with detected signals are selectable,
which is probably related.  If a signal goes away, it declares the input
no longer valid and starts to search for a valid one.

It is VERY annoyung,
