Getting Files From Android Phone to Ubuntu

I changed the USB status and now my phone is directing me to the Samsung
Windows software called Kies.
I have that installed on my Windows laptop, and I see icons that cover
all sorts of things including photos and video.
But I am without a Linux (Ubuntu) solution.
