Getting Files From Android Phone to Ubuntu

OK, my research is taking me down complicated paths. I am seeing DLNA, 
but no Ubuntu clients.

And this is my first smart phone.

This task must have already been solved.

I am currently on a photo but also will want video.

Please point me in the right direction.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S
