Recommendations for lightweight Window Manager?

The linux Distro that shipped on the earlier Aspire Ones (I own one), 
ran an XFCE desktop.

It's very smooth.

On a side note, it also came with Compiz and I noticed no real 
difference in performance when I had it running.

The footprint of the Windowmanager is less critical then the footprint 
of the whole Desktop environment.

LXDE and XFCE would be just fine one the Aspire One.
Especially if it has the extra ram the Windows versions come with.
