Sending information to a cell phone programmatically

Most cell carriers have a special e-mail address you can use to "email"
your cell phone.  For example, Rogers subscribers use the following:
phonenumber-N2cUGYwyuVJYzD5mSbZInQ at public.gmane.org

where phonenumber is... your cell phone number.

That may be an easy way of doing utilizing straight forward interfaces.
