I just opened the case, pulled the CMOS battery then put it back in. I 
booted and now alsa sees the emu1212m card again. It's this kind of 
thing that makes me keep thinking of IRQ conflicts. Pulling/inserting 
CMOS battery resets the IRQs to default.
