GNU Screen: can wrapping be toggled when marking text in copy mode?

Toggling wrapping with C-a C-r didn't seem to do the trick.

To clarify, consider the following screen:

OOOOOOOO
OOOXXXOO
OOOXXXOO
OOOOOOOO

I want to mark and copy only the block of X's. Possible?
