There's clueless, which is no sin, and then there's clueless with 
fanatical certainty of one's own infallibility.  I think it's that 
attitude in someone with responsibility for helping form children's 
outlooks on the world that's behind the outrage.

If he'd used the same language while discussing the pros and cons of a 
business decision, I would share your skepticism about his approach.
