You can put Yum repositories in /etc/yum.conf [baseurl=<repo URL>]
Or in files named <repo name>.repo in /etc/yum/yum.repos.d

On debian it uses the sites listed in /etc/apt/sources.list

yum hadn't even been imagined when I gave up an RPM based distributions, so I
have no clue where it keeps things.
