One thing that may help: when I went through this (it was a loooooong night), I
ended up with what I think was kind of a mess. Like you, I'd been trying to
load stuff on the iPod all night, and it was behaving really weird. Had to keep
doing a 'reboot'. I eventually connected it to my lone Windows machine with
iTunes and did a full reset and upgraded the firmware to 1.02. Then I came back
and connected to gtkpod, loaded some stuff, and it's been peachy ever since.
