apt-get install gcc-g++ fails because ++ is removed.

Where do they get those package names from.  I guess PClinuxOS isn't
debian based at all.

Well for doing su, always use 'su -' since you don't want to keep the
user environment when doing stuff as root in general, and you want to
gain the path settings for root, rather than keeping the regular user's
path.
