Ahh, I use vim all the time.  But I don't consider myself a 
vim expert so I am not only going to defend it.

Also to defend vim against Emacs one should know at least a 
little bit about Emacs.  I know of Emacs and bits and pices 
of it but I never used it beyond just starting it up.
