Emacs & default font

I have these lines in my $HOME/.Xresources and $HOME/.Xdefaults files:

Emacs*font: -*-lucidatypewriter-medium-r-normal-sans-12-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1
Emacs*XlwMenu.font: -*-helvetica-bold-r-normal--12-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1

(I don't know if emacs looks at .Xresources or .Xdefaults; on my system 
they're both the same file.)
