In Arizona news, this week, Ralph Griswold, retired "Regent Professor"
at University of Arizona, passed away due to complications from
pancreatic cancer. He was noted as the creator of the SNOBOL and Icon
languages.

SNOBOL was one of the first (first I can remember) dynamic languages
specialized to string processing. That is ordinary today; it was
quite novel in the '60s.

Some of the major ideas from Icon (coroutines, generators) have been
getting applied to Ruby and Python.

Oddly enough, this is completely standard behaviour for shells. This
is a roundabout way of saying `don't use combined chains of `&&'s and
`||'s unless you think Gödel's theorem is for sissies'.
