I have an Acer Aspire 5003 (Turion 34, 512 MB ram, 100GB HDD) that runs
almost flawlessly using MEPIS 6 and I can say with a certainty that it
runs Linux better that it does Win XP. The special fn+ keys seem to work
fine and the battery life is about 2.5 hours. The only downsides that I
have encountered are that the Broadcom 43xx wireless nic required
ndiswrapper and the modem doesn't seem to work, however I don't really
have a need for it so I didn't try very hard to make the modem work.
