Question about Debian Unstable & Stable

Len is right. Parts of Debian Unstable (e.g. X Window) break every so often.

1. You are best off with Debian stable (which is updated whenever all
the release-critical bugs are dealt with) or Ubuntu stable (which is
updated every six months.)
2. Failing that, use Debian stable plus backports for the apps you
really need updated.
3. Failing that, use Debian testing. Testing is far more reliable than
unstable.
