Serious OO/Debian problem...

Using Debian stable? Have you tried using the Debian packages proper? 
Ubuntu packages? How about klik openoffice? What about trying 
StarOffice? It's almost identical and you can download it for free too.

Sounds bad, hope you get it sorted out soon,
