Perhaps they use xD because the smaller size makes it easier to
incorporate.  The other reason I can think of would be that the
companies that use it have a vested interest in doing so, the way Sony
always uses memory stick cards.  From your and my point of view, I
can't think of a reason not to prefer SD whenever possible, but I
don't know any technical details to convince me otherwise, maybe
there's something I don't know.
