In my humble opinion, you didn't make that clear enough in the
original email.  "20$/hr to start, contract for first little while,
Could go to salary" is pretty vague and uncertain compared to
something like "20/hr for an initial evaluation period to start, but
if the candidate is kept, they will be moved to full-time status with
a salary"
