Seagate sata drives have also had a lot of problems with certain sata
controllers due to firmware bugs in the seagate drives.  I hope they
have fixed it by now, but I have been avoiding seagate drives for that
reason.  The controller might have been considered picky or odd, but the
drive was the one violating the sata spec.
