This announcement is going out to the ruby and linux groups, because I
am an admin on their wikis.


Wikis all over the world are being subjected to a very widespread
distributed and automated wiki spam attack.

What does this mean to you?  Some pages may appear blank until I clean
them up.  Anonymous editing will be removed entirely, and will never
come back.  Ever.

FINALLY, after all these years.. wikis are being forced to grow up.

In response, I will be locking things down and will begin assembling
some brains so as to generate more permanent solutions.  In the mean
time, there are several very simple solutions I will put in place.


What's foolish is that this attack amounts to absolutely nothing. 
Search engine ranking isn't influenced one little bit by any of this. 
This spamming is simply a childish annoyance.
