md5sum on CD

Not exactly about checksums but if you want to test if
an iso image will boot, so that you don't have to burn
a disc with a bad image, you can use qemu:
http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/

For instance: qemu -cdrom image.iso -boot d
