[W-OT] AOL access from Japan?

This is _way_ off topic, but I know there's some folks here on the
list that have been out towards Japan.

A friend will be leaving for Japan on Thursday, and has asked for a
bit of help on getting connected to the internet via their AOL account
while away.

It's been a _long_ time since I've touched a modem, and have never
used AOL.  I've got no idea about where to start in helping them
prepare.

I assume that there's an access number, but that's about all I can
think of at the moment.

Any suggestions or thoughts?  TIA
