That'll work.

Here are a couple of other things you can do, if you decide to stay with 
that other operating system

Install Firefox and don't use IE

Get a LiveCD, here's a good list of them

http://www.frozentech.com/content/livecd.php

and keep one on hand for next time you get hit. At least you can boot 
with it and get at your hard drive. I use Berry linux personally, but 
there are a number that are designed for rescue and antivirus/spyware
work.
