Motherboard sound card hassles - Fedora - ASUS P4S533-VM motherboard

I recently installed mandrake 10, and the sound/speaker didn't work out 
of the box, and it turns out that the volume is set to 0%.  That might 
be the problem you're having ... can't say for sure since I've never 
tried fedora before.
