It's been a while since I used it seriously, but I remember dvips output 
being easily parseable. At the very least, you should be able to tell 
which pages are letter content, and which are envelopes.

I used to [as recently as two years ago] hack PostScript for a living. 
If the files aren't huge or confidential, send me one, and I'll see what 
I can do.
