Hi Chris,

# auto-apt search escputil
usr/bin/escputil        utils/escputil

Looks like you need to install the "escputil" package. I don't know if
you can use apt-get on a knoppix install (if yes, then just do "apt-get
install escputil"), but you can always download the file directly from
one of the mirrors or packages.debian.org
