Using Microsoft keyboard hot keys

Just to clarify, I don't want to use the keys for their intended "back",
"forward", etc. browsing functions (unless someone knows how to make
that work with Firefox). I just need some mechanism of catching the
button events and using them to run a shell script (or maybe make DCOP
calls to, say, 'JuK').
