A little dangerous to sensitive equipment like that in a computer. Likely to
blow at least the sound card if external, probably alot more if it's built
into the mobo. But for an old tape recorder, what the hay. Can't hurt
anything in the telephone service (outside your line) if done carefully
although they would frown on it regardless of your qualifications or purpose.
One important thing to note, the voltage rate is NOW 48 volts DC constant. It
used to be 24 volt DC constant but if you're thinking about the extra current
necessary to facilitate broadband and cable, you're thinking. Remember
though, the phone is not ringing. You could be in for a very unpleasant
surprise if the phone should ring while you're playing McGuiver.
It does make for a fantastic thing to do to the guy that got so drunk on beer
at your party that he passed out on the couch after hitting on your wife or
girlfriend. A little tinfoil between the toes on each foot and a cell phone.
Hello hello hello, were you hitting on my old lady?
