If you do not find a reference for a card that you are interested in at the 
<http://www.linuxlaptops.org/> site, if the store or person you are buying 
it from will allow you to try it on your laptop, that would be the ultimate 
test. If you do not want to carry the laptop with you, you could always 
take a Knoppix CD with you and boot from that on one of their machines with 
the card in question. If Knoppix does not auto detect it, it may still be a 
supported card but it will probably involve more work than it is worth so 
you should move on to another card.
