Don't believe it.  With all the garbage going around in attachments, I 
almost *wish* my OS X mail reader didn't deal with MIME. :-)
...and for that matter, the OS itself probably doesn't get a vote.

I can't guess from the description what the problem is, but I've 
received all types of attachments on my Macs, sent from Linux, 
Windows(es), and Solaris without any complaint.  I usually use the Mail 
client that's distributed with the system.
