ifconfig -a
to see if you have your ethernet card there (eth0), or
 dmsg | grep eth

I'd guess you need the special RPM for the ADSL modem speedtouch
Do a search for it on rpmfind.net, or contact me if you can't (you can get it 
at Mandrake club)
