   I am not sure it matters what window manager you run under Gnome.  I have discovered that I can launch Nautilus under FVWM2.  Nautilus uses up your entire screen, and it captures all your mouse clicks.  Under Gnome, I think that's it.  Under FVWM2, I can move to another window, or minimize the Nautilus window to get at FVWM2's menus.
