Peter, try using the demo copy of Active Disk Image, and see if it
works. I had a similar situation, where I could not get the drive to
detect, and this program got it working, and allowed me to copy the
entire HD off, sector by sector over a couple of days. This program
really saved my bacon. http://www.lsoft.net/products.html
