I thought I'd pass this link along. Brendan Gregg is a performance engineer for Netflix, also a real outside the box thinker. One of his other blog posts is about his video recording of an eclipse. He turned his camera away in order to observe the "far field" effect on the environment around him, rather than record the event itself. Outside of this he has a good narrative style which I am able to follow.
