You asked a year ago, got replies, hit problems, but didn't post them
to the list.  Maybe you didn't expect the list to be of more help.
This isn't an accusation, only an observation.

I'm not a ZFS user, but I'll throw out a guess:

- take a snapshot (that may be the wrong terminology)

- use a dump(8) command that matches zfs.
