[GTALUG] Is the TD-8616 DSL modem a good choice?

In 2009 I evaluated three TP-Link modems:

8610
8616
8841

The 8610 doesn't even have telnet access.
The 8616 is ok under good conditions, but is useless for diagnosing or addressing problems.

The 8841 is much better, if you want to know what's going on.
If you are interested, the 8841 runs a rudimentary GNU/Linux, accessible via telnet, so you can (automatically) monitor and analyze your ADSL line condition.

If you are connected to a CO via long wire (rather than to a nearby Remote), this may be important.
